BIG HELPING HAND FROM CHIEF JUSTICE



The Chief Justice of Chattisgarh High Court P R Ramachandra Menon has quietly helped many many students of medical and nursing of AIIMS, Raipur, return home as thousands stranded across the country due to lockdown of account of coronavirus. 

Based on an e mail received from a Supreme Court lawyer, the Chief Justice made his timely intervention and  ensured the State Government's swift action in providing buses for the students to return to their hometowns. Justice Menon spoke to THE HINDU and informed students are tomorrow's frontline workers if there is a future health critics by trusting the system and help the needy.  They will carry out their duties in the years to come.  The students were stranded in Raipur since 20th March according to the mail from Haris Beeran.  Some students contacted Haris Beeran to help them legally for returning home.  The train services available from Delhi and Punjab but none crosses Chattisgarh.  The Chief Justice prepared an Administrative Order calling information from the State Government forthwith.  A check has been done whether the students were given enough food and whether entry denied for them into the hostels.  The Registrar General was advised to collect information through the Advocate General of the state.

The state government reacted very promptly and arranged buses for the students.  The credit goes to the government without any say.  The judicial played its part.
