CHALLENGE IN PRODUCTION OF MOVIES

The Theatres Industry seeks government's help as the COVID-19 pandemic has endangered the existence of film industry.

The survival at all levels of workers has made it very difficult.  The pandemic might have created new opportunities.  The OTT (over the top) enthusiasts such as Amazon Prime and Netflix are making all out efforts to release movies so that the movie are viewed digitally only.  They concentrate in purchasing premium movies.

Is it a sign that the industry's sun slowly sets in as far as movies release are concerned?

A top person in the industry has ringside views on both.  This person is none other than the CEO of AGS Cinemas  Archana Kalpathi and she says the production of movies is a challenge and not the one how to exhibit it.  People waiting for opportunities to come out of the house and hence viewership will surge.  She wants government to give clearance for screening more number of shows since the theatre capacity is reduced and also production revenue will not be reduced.  The occupancy varies radically percentagewise when compared to week end and weekday footfall.  There is a challenge with big movies and big stars.  The government can allow early morning shows to increase viewers, by doubling the number of shows on daily basis.  Fans will throng theatres for big stars movies.

Let us eagerly wait that the pandemic ends soon and normacly is back.
