GAS LEAK - VISAKHAPATNAM

Tragedy struck on villagers in RR Venkatapuram, Padmapuram, BC Colony, Gopalapatnam and Kamparapalem in Viskhapatnam when styrene monomer gas leaked from a chemical factory that belongs to LG Polymer India early on 7th May 2020.  The factory located among the densely populated areas claimed more than 10 lives and left over 350 people admitted into various hospitals in Visakhapatnam and other places for emergency treatments.  This toxic has spread pungent smell, people rushed out of their homes with readily available things.  People also carried their children and elderly towards safety.  Many felt unconsicous on the road.  The panic runners have been shifted by about 30 ambulances, police jeeps, government vehicles and other people by two wheelers.  The gas leak could affect nervous system leading to short of oxygen to brain, vomitting and breathlessness according to the Superintendent of King George Hospital.  The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Mr Y S Jagan Mohan reddy visited the hospital and met the affected people.  He has also announced compensation of Rs.1 crore for the deceased family members.  This value includes the compensation to be paid by the company from where the gas leak has happened.

Letr us only hope and pray God for the speedy recovery of the affected people.  Besides, the Government advise the company to take proper precautions so that no more gas leakage takes place and save people in such a bad explosion.
