Amazon trying to buy a stake worth of at least $2 billion from Bharti Airtel - mobile operators - with a view to boost India's digital economy. This information is based on an authentic people from the former to the Press.
Amazon buying roughly 5% of the market business value presently operated which ultimately increases the power of Airtel and effectively compete against the top operator - Reliance Jio. As done by Jio from a mobile operator to digital technology, the Airtel confident of following the suit. While Amazon will provide strategic directions, Airtel will catch up to it. Amazon working out on investment options with buying a stake worth upto 10% based on a report by another person.
As far as the deal is concerned, it is going highly confidential and it may slip the agreement level. This is provided by some officials who do not want to be named. In case the deal fails, they will look at commercial transactions resulting in Airtel customers cheap access to Amazon products.
The discussions between Amazon and Airtel attracts India's digital economy for US tech giants. In the past, Jio raised $50 billion from global investors which includes Facebook thus establishing one stop digital commerce platform.
A deal with Airtel for Amazon will increase its activities through smart speakers and boost business access to the bigger network of Airtel, thus lowering costing for Amazon.
