EARTHQUAKE IN MIZORAM




An earthquake has devastated many household buildings, major roads and churches in Mizoram on 22nd June.  This is the third incident in a week's time.  The quake's epicentre was on the border of
India-Myanmar.

The quake experienced was 4.6 magnitude on 18th June, 5.1 magnitude on 21st June and this one was of 5.3 magnitude.

The Chief Minister of Assam state informed that the damage assessment has been taken up by the MLA and District Administration.  Fortunately, there was no casualty.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister for their assistance during the testing time of the earthquake, with regard to all supports from the centre.

Damages have also occurred in places like residences, churches, community halls, historical buildings, schools and immigration check post building.  Cracks were also seen on the roads.
