HELPING HAND - CHENNAI POLICE


As the spreading of coronavirus was happening with increased cases on day-to-day basis, migrants from various states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odissha and West Bengal have been kept on pins and needles as to when they return to their native places.  These migrants were spread all over the city and congregate at the MGR Central Railway stationand other places eagerly waiting for their turn to board trains to travel to their respective destinations.

The untiring efforts by the Chennai city police was quite evident in helping each and every migrant for their getting e passes and to board a train or a bus.  The co-ordination between the police and the respective state governments has to be highlighted in getting things done.  The compiling of list of migrant workers from places such as government website, stranded at the employer places, as is where is construction sites, lodges, rented houses and under the care of shelters provided by the Greater Chennai Corporation.

The travel arrangements were worked out depending upon the availability of trains and other mode of possible transports.  The migrants went on trekking were being identified and force to return to the camps to facilitate their travel back plans accordingly.  Mr Premanand, Additional Commissioner of South Police has given suitable instructions to the nodel officer for proper co-ordination.

It will not be out of place to appreciate the police force in controlling the crowd at the railway station with necessary check points leading to the station.
