INDIA-CHINA FACE OFF - BIG STEP BY RAILWAYS

A major violence, recently, took place between India and China in the border claiming lives of twenty Indian soldiers including a Colonel.  This made the nation very sad and condolences poured in favour of martyrs.

The Railway Ministry has cancelled signalling contract issued in favour of a Chinese firm.  The contract value was a whopping Rs.471 crores.  The Railways pinpointed the slow progress by the Chinese authorities following the clash at the Line of Actual Control.  The Railways have made strong move after the Department of Telecommunications advised BSNL and MTNL not to use products of Chinese firms products for upgrading to 4G.

The Railways contract was for a length of 417 kms for signalling and telecommunication works on the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.  The contract awarded about four years back in favour of Beijing National Railway Research and Design Institute.

The Indian Railways regretted that only 20% of the work was completed.  The Chinese firm was lethargic in responding to certain technical clarifications sought by the Indian Railways.  The presence of Chinese executives at the site was not satisfactory while no responsible officials available for any type of clarifications.  The Railways found serious lapse on the part of Chinese firm and shown distress against response from their end.
