T20 CRICKET WORLD CUP - WILL IT TAKE PLACE?

We have been noticing spike of cases on account of COVID-19 pandemic is on the rise on day to day basis at present in various countries in the world, thus making life a big challenge for everyone.  Under the circumstances, it could be an unrealistic happening during the current calender year as per the views of Earl Eddings, Chairman of Cricket Australia.

The tournament has been slated between 18th October and 15th November this year.  Keeping in view the international flight operations are in a disarray with increased restrictions in entering the Australian country, the organising of this showpiece event is a big question.  The converging of sixteen countries, with most participating countries face serious spread of the disease, a clear announcement of either calling off the tournament or getting it postponed is yet to be pronounced.

Adding woes, Kevin Robers, Chief Executive of Cricket Australia has put in his papers amidst growing concern over the handling of coronavirus outbreak.  The exodus of Kevin Roberts came in at a time when two other officials of the National Rubgy have abandoned their responsibilities.  While the outgone personnel was not the only reason for such an atmosphere including financial crisis for the cricket board, Nick Hockley - chief of T20 world cup, takes over the reigns for a rebuilding.

One of the former Australian cricket great Allan Border has categorically made crucial remarks for an unfair attitude on a single person rather than putting the blame on other board officials.  It was the remarks from this cricketer that having sufficient funds at one point of time, suddenly facing cash crunch do not work very well on the board.

Let the present officials have a serious work out and bring back normal operations.
