The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has, recently, instituted the coveted award to the Indian Institute of Technology Madas, placing it on top of all the special study institutions in India.
It is now the time, awarded by the NIRF, for the Anna University to take the 12th place among the universities in India. It is also placed 14th within the engineering educational institutions, the overall category being placed at the 20th place.
The architecture department of the university is ranked 18th among the top 20 institutions. The state bags 16 universities inclusive of private and public out of the top one hundred institutions.
The Madras Medical College figured, for the first time, one among the top 12 medical colleges and the Christian Medical College in Vellore achieved third in the country.
Chennai based Presidency College and Loyola College are among the top ten colleges in the country, however, with a set back for the Presidency College going to the fifth place from the third place.
