WAS COVID-19 IN ITALY BEFORE CHINA?

The coronavirus was already present in Northern Italy before China based on investigations done in wastewater collected at cities of Milan and Turin.  About 40 sewage samples collected between October 2019 and February 2020.  Recent release of an analysis showed the presence of SARS-COV-2 virus.

Environmental analysts and experts say this will help in understanding the beginning of virus circulation.

Different minor studies by scientific teams in different countries also suggest occurrence of COVID-19 detected through sewage.  While this was done by Netherlands, France and Australia, many other countries started sampling of wastewater to find out the spread of disease.

The detection of virus traces was consistent before end 2019 with evidence from other countries.  This was in circulation before the first case was confirmed on 31st December 2019 by China.
A veterinary expert of Scotland has endorsed this.  From the study of French scientists, a man was infected on 27th December 2019 almost a month before the first case was confirmed by France.  It cannot be taken as granted that the development of COVID-19 pandemic originated from these first cases.  Samples found positive after testing from Bologna, Milan and Turin in January and
February 2020.  But samples tested during October and November 2019 were found negative.
