HIGH DEATHS - COVID-19


High number of cases continue to report in Karnataka where bulk of cases are from Bengaluru city.  Over 70 deaths have occurred on a given single day in the state with total stands at 757 .  New cases were 2,738 with overall cases rising to 41,581.

Besides, Andhra Pradesh records 37 new deaths and 1,935 new cases registered.

In Kerala, special efforts were put in by the Health Department to reduce the intensity of cases getting registered.  Special actions plans are afoot along coastal zones, strict surveillance and testing of people.  The Chief Minister of Kerala laments about local transmission turning to more than 50 clusters, with large communities in presence.  The death toll might go up if patients report for testing late to testing centres who also have the fear of infection on old people with co-morbidities.  International praise for the state in containment activity.  The health system gets overwhelmed due to patients requiring ICU and ventillators support.  Local cases are on the increase when compared to imported cases.  Out of 450 cases, more than 50% are of community cases.

In Andhra Pradesh, death rises to 365 and cases upto 31,103.  The number of recoveries are over 16,000 and active cases have crossed 14,000.  Around 14 deaths were reported in various Districts, on a single day.

Fortyseven deaths were report in Bengaluru urban and 1,315 cases on 13th July.  Rapid antigen tests are being conducted and the results are expected soon.
