
Many people contribute their mite when a very poor person needed the most. It only shows the great samaritan approach to the needy and fulfil their requirement.
Such a humanitarian service was rendered to a school going girl in Kochi. Malavika, who had to suffer for food, live in plastic tent, have jobless father, ailing mother and younger brother, was finally offered a newly built home through kind hearted people.
Earlier the plight of this 12 year old girl came to light while travelling in a bus, into profuse eyes, as reported in the print media. The condition of the house, she with her family lived in, gave a rude shock to her teachers and friends. The family income went to a near zero as her father lost job in the recent floods.
The teachers and friends decided to build her a home by forming social media group, assistance through media helped generate Rs.2 lakhs. The assistance was also from Malayali expatriates, getting a job for her father in the process. The local panchayat and other groups could mobilise close to Rs.7 lakhs.
A local resident donated a land, house constructed and handed over recently.
The mobilisation of materials and work process posed a challenging job to the people concerned as the place has no road access.
Finally it was a smile in the faces of the family.
