As people must be aware, the country has gradually developed digital system to many kind of operations in the past few years to make transactions comfortable, easier, faster and above all, a great time save.
In a further move for one such digital transactions, the Government ensures that the FASTag is mandatory for availing discounts at the toll plaza for a vehicle to cross over. The discount for toll users for return journey within 24 hours will be provided if the vehicle possess a valid and functionable FASTag.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways told that special steps and due considerations have been given to road users with a view to encourage them in adopting to digital payment system and fall in line with the developed arrangements and zoom past the toll plaza in no time..
If the vehicle making the return journey within 24 hours with valid and functionable FASTag, the passenger need not require any prior permission and the discount would be an automatic process. Being an electronic toll collection device fixed on the windshield of the vehicle, the driver can zip through without any stoppage. Thus the payment automatically gets deducted from the passengers bank account which is linked with the FASTag.
We shall recall the FASTag was made mandatory to decongest national highways, save time and reduce cash handling apart from the fuel saving.
