As everyone would appreciate one of the comfortable and long distance travel will be by train affordable by all classes of people.  At this juncture, the Indian Railways planning to increase ticket price between Rs.10/- and Rs,35/- with higher price for AC first class passengers.  This is levied as user charges to avail redeveloped stations with the state of the art amenities and assist national transporter for fund raising towards redevelopment of more stations.  This proposal will soon get Cabinet nod for implementation.

Around 1,000 stations will be come under the redevelopment category out of a total 7,000 railway stations.  While this fee is already applicable in air passengers category, this is the first time as far as the rail users are concerned.  UDF charges at airports vary from city to city.  The basic reason for this levy by the railways is considering improvement of conveniences and facilities for all the passengers at the railway stations.

Without burdening the common people, the levy will be very very reasonable and applicable at the stations where the footfall is high.  The facility management is responsible for this collection as and when the developments in the stations are complete.

A notification to this effect will be issued soon by the Central government for implementation by following the prescribed methods.
