VACCINE PROGRAMME LAUNCHED

Having created a radical change in the normal life span in the country by the coronavirus infection for almost a year, the vaccine programme has been launched today in India thus creating avenues in sight to end the pandemic which has killed about 1,50,000 people.  The economy has gone down very badly as if a big explosive used in destroying ships.  In the coming months, the Home Ministry is gearing up to vaccinate about one fourth of the population.  The priority being healthcare workers, people above 50 years of age and people with symptoms of morbidities.

With mega depots under its belt, the vaccines are transported to distribution hubs in temperature-controlled vans thus keeping the doses cooler than 8 degrees celsius.  Over 29,000 cold-chain points, 240 walk-in coolers, 45,000 ice-lined refrigertors, 41,000 deep freezers and 300 solar fridges are kept ready for the mammoth exercise.  Sufficient vaccines of Covisheld from AstraZeneca and Covaxin from Serum Institute of India are ready for use.  Armed police are strictly guarding the vaccines to avoid it being stolen and sold in the black market.

Let us hope the spread of coronavirus to come to an end soon.
